"We are pleased to inform you that your mortgage loan application has been     APPROVED     subject to the following conditions... "

So now I'm just waiting on the appraisal and flood certification. And I need to get home insurance, too. Looks like things are moving along nicely. Also, I looked at my budget and I think I'll have a little more money left over than I thought I would. Well, I thought I'd have nothing left, so anything is more than I thought I'd have! But it's nice to know I'll have a little something to work with so maybe I don't have to depend on my sister to help me out for everything beyond the down payment. I've started a shopping list. And I keep forgetting that Bekah has furniture that will need to go somewhere anyway, so we're going to set it up at my place. Might as well, right? So here's my to-do/shopping list:

Things to get done immediately:
  • upgrade wiring
  • replace old electric line leading into the house
  • get backup for the sump pump installed

  • To purchase immediately:
  • dryer
  • stove
  • riding lawnmower *
  • window treatments
  • smoke detector
  • programmable thermostat
  • programmable coffee maker (so I can have coffee waiting for me when I wake up in the morning!)

  • To purchase sooner than later, if possible:
  • extra tv (for basement)
  • treadmill (will also go in basement)

  • To purchase when I get a chance:
  • extra VCR and/or DVD player (for basement tv)
  • snowblower
  • humidifier (maybe... it has one there now that doesn't work anymore)
  • hammock and stand

  • I noticed that there is already a push mower in the shed out back. I'm not sure if the current owners realize it's there, because I know they pay someone else to come out with a riding mower and cut the grass for them once a week. I don't want to bring it to their attention, but if they happen to leave it, I may see how long I can last cutting almost an acre of grass with the push mower!

I wonder how fast Home Depot or Lowe's could deliver a riding mower? You think they could get one there by the time I'm halfway done? ;-)

So there's the update. Gotta get back to work!
    Current Mood: anxious

    Re: so...
Closing is scheduled for July 15th. I have to be out of my apartment by July 31st. So I'll be moving in gradually over the last couple of weeks in July.

I don't know yet if I'm going to end up renting a moving van and moving all at once or if I'm just going to buy a used pickup truck so I can start moving things over on my own from the first day. (And then I'd still have it for when I want to get stuff for landscaping or whatever.) But the trick will be to wait until just after I close on the house to buy it, because any change in my financial obligations could cause the mortgage lender to want to re-evaluate my mortgage application.

Not sure how close that comes to answering your question, but that's what I'm working with. If you ever come back to the states, you'll have to come visit me!!! :)
