it's going to happen for real!
I told the leasing office this morning that I'll be leaving when my current lease expires at the end of July and I told the realtor that I'm ready to commit to buying the house. Now I just need to get the mortgage side of things settled. I emailed one guy Sunday night and haven't heard back yet. I called him today and they said he was not at the office today. I talked to another mortgage guy this morning and it looks like there's another good offer there. My goal is to have the mortgage part all tied up by the end of the day tomorrow!

Now I just have to hope I can actually close on the house by the end of my lease!

I've got a bunch of printer and monitor boxes by my office door so I'll be taking them home with me tonight and will start packing things up by the end of the week. I hope I'll be able to move straight into the house, but I'll put things in storage if I have to and will find someone to stay with until I can move in. The realtor, though, said she thought we might actually be able to close within two weeks. I'm just hoping for 30 days!

You're welcome to crash on my couch if you need to. Everyone crashes on my couch :)

Congrats on the house, though!

Re: Well...
Wow! That's really nice of you! I'm hoping everything goes nice and smooth and I can go straight from my apartment to my house. Hmmm... "my house" sounds so different to me now that I'm referring to my house instead of the house I grew up in, which was, of course, my parents' house.

I can't tell you how anxious I am now!!! :)

You know you are always welcome to crash here. The commute might be a killer though!

Really happy and proud, too.

I did think about that, though. If I had to wait for things to happen that didn't require me to be local, I was thinking I could take some time off work and hang out in PA for a little while. I'll probably have to stick around, though, so I think I'll be looking to one of the holidays later in the year to take a chunk of time off of work and visit.

Really happy and proud, too.

I was showing the people at work a photo the realtor had given me of the house and Durga, one of the other programmer-type people, was talking about how much I'd grown since I first started working there. She was there when I first started working there when I was in high school. Then, of course, I worked there off and on through the college years. And now I'm a regular, permanent employee and I'm buying a house!

Hmm... I've been there a long time! That'll be the next major change, I guess.
